Ginny and Jim were kindred spirits. It didn’t matter that they were separated by nearly 70 years. She would shy away from strangers, but the first time her mother and father took her next door to visit Jim, she took to him instantly. He bounced her on his knee, read stories to her, and told her all about what it was like growing up in the ’30s. It didn’t matter to him that she couldn’t understand.
